You’re welcome here. And congrats for taking the first step towards taking better care of your skin.

Skin care has become an essential part of a man's grooming routine. Just like women, men have skin too and need to take care of their skin to keep it healthy. But with so little men-centric products especially in Uganda and conflicting advice out there, it can be hard to know where to start.

Skin care for men doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. What it should be, instead, is calculated and consistent, your skin afterall is your biggest organ.

That's why we've put together this quick and simple guide to men's skin care. We'll cover the basics that you need to know to keep your skin healthy and feeling great.

Why is skin care essential for men?

There are many reasons why skin care is important for men. First, less truly is more, particularly when it comes to keeping your skin balanced.

  • Prevents premature aging: Just like women, men’s skin faces challenges from pollution, harsh weather, and the sun.
  • Revive dull skin: Despite producing more oil, men’s skin is naturally drier than women’s
  • Boosting your self-confidence: Good skin care can help to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and when your skin appears and feels healthy, it has the power to greatly boost your self-confidence.

Most likely you are here as someone who cares about their skin and is trying to build a regimen for the first time. Regardless if you’re 15 or 65, the basic skin care regimen remains the same.

What is a basic skin care routine?

It comes down to just three steps (plus a few more, if you have the time to spare😉)

A basic skin care routine for men should include three steps: cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing.

If you want to go from 0-100 and fill your bathroom counter with all sorts of luxurious creams and washes, this isn’t the guide for you.

The goal is to create a routine that:

  • You easily follow each morning and evening
  • Takes less than 3 minutes to complete
  • Is simple and easy to stick to.

Sound good? Let’s get started!

#01-Cleansing

Wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

Use a gentle cleanser, Whenever you begin your skin care regimen in the morning or before bed, you need to start with a cleanser or a face wash, a cleanser basically, pulls away excess oil from the skin and from inside the pores, while also washing away sweat, dirt, grime, and any previously applied products.

You can cleanse in the shower or at the sink, but make sure its the last step in your shower regimen.

#02-Exfoliating

Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week (on non-consecutive days) to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. - This step throws off most skincare newbies, but don't let that be you.

Essentially, your skin cells are renewed every 28 days, but they don’t always leave the surface of your skin when you wash or bathe. Oftentimes, they build up and form rough patches and hard skin, or they sink into your pores and cause acne.

By exfoliating twice a week, you can ensure that your dead cells are gone for good, while your healthy, new ones shine brightly.

#03-Moisturizing

Moisturizing is the third and final step because this baseline regimen.

Moisturize your face AND neck every day, even if your skin is oily because moisturizer is more protective than active because it traps moisture in the layers below, while also shielding you from pollutants in the air.

The products you choose matter- think gentle natural cleansers that also won’t strip your skin, you don’t want that squeaky-clean-window feel!

Use a moisturizer that is oil-free and non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog your pores.

Because your skin cells turnover rapidly as you sleep, that bedtime moisturizer should be a little denser and more nourishing than your morning one, think our gentle-aging oil serum.

It can be the difference between waking with radiant, buoyant skin and a dull, exhausted one.
